Nintendo Labo's Next Kit is a Virtual Reality Smörgåsbord

posted on by Lynzee Loveridge

Nintendo revealed its fourth Toy-Con cardboard kit for Nintendo Switch on Wednesday and it's all about virtual reality.

The sets are slated for release on April 12 as either a starter and two expansion packs or in a complete set. A total of six interactive cardboard Toy-Con builds are planned: VR goggles, the wind peddle, a camera, an elephant, a bird, and a blaster. Nintendo's press release mentions two ways the kits can be utilized.

Nintendo Labo: VR Kit offers six new Toy-Con creations to build, including the Toy-Con VR Goggles, which combine with the other creations to allow players to interact with the virtual world through imaginative real-world actions. Fend off an alien invasion with the Toy-Con Blaster, visit a colorful in-game ocean and snap photos of the sea life with the Toy-Con Camera and so much more.

The Toy-Con Garage will allow more advanced builders to fiddle with programming software to take creations even further.

The Nintendo Labo: VR Kit – Starter Set + Blaster and complete Nintendo Labo: VR Kit will be available in stores on April 12. The two expansion packs; the Toy-Con Elephant and Toy-Con Camera and Toy-Con Wind Pedal and Toy-Con Bird, will be available for purchase exclusively online. The suggested retail price for the full VR kit is US$79.99 and the starter kit + blaster set is US$39.99. The expansion packs are US$19.99 each.

Nintendo Labo's Variety Kit and Robot Kit shipped on April 20 followed by the third kit on September 14. The Variety Kit's Toy-Con Motorbike added compatibility with the Mario Kart 8 Deluxe game in June. Since the first two kits debuted, players have been finding unconventional ways to enjoy their cardboard creations.
