Nintendo Labo Puts Creativity in Your Hands — Just Add Cardboard!

posted on by Lynzee Loveridge

Nintendo is debuting a whole new way to play with your Switch console, all you need is a bit of cardboard and some art supplies. The game company's website launched its Nintendo Labo page introducing the projects first two kits and endless possibilities.

The idea behind Nintendo Labo is in the cardboard. The company will sell kits to create new accessories for the Nintendo Switch. Kits include a motorbike steering wheel, a fishing rod, a piano, a small house, and more. The accessories are dubbed "Toy-Con" and when paired with the Joy-Con, it adds a whole new element to Switch games.

Toy-Con building instructions are included on the Switch. The site also adds that building the Toy-Cons reveals how they work so players can invent all new ways to interact with their accessories.

Nintendo Labo is scheduled to launch in the U.S. on April 20 and in the U.K. on April 27 with a Variety Kit and Robot Kit. Workshop in New York, San Francisco, and London in February and March will give players a chance to test out the tech before it launches.

Can't get enough cardboard goodness? This dad hid a real Nintendo Switch inside his son's make-believe console for the best surprise ever.
