Crunchyroll-Hime Guest Stars on Kizuna Ai's YouTube Channel

posted on by Kim Morrissy

Crunchyroll mascot Crunchyroll-hime appeared on Virtual YouTuber Kizuna Ai's channel for a skit that was uploaded on Saturday. To commemorate Crunchyroll-hime's debut as a 3D virtual character, the two girls played a gesture game with iconic anime moves.

Crunchyroll-hime is voiced by Rian Tachibana in the video. Her 3D model was produced by Crunchyroll's Victoria Holden, who also voiced Crunchyroll-hime in the English version of Kemono Friends. Kizuna Ai has multiple voice actresses, none of whom are publicly known.

Crunchyroll is streaming the Kizuna Ai 1st Live "hello, world" concert. Crunchyroll describes the Virtual Youtuber Kizuna Ai:

Kizuna Ai is known as the world's first and most popular Virtual Youtuber, and now she headlines her first concert: a two-day event titled "hello, world." Held during December 2018 in Tokyo and Osaka, it was put together by AI and the producers behind the nine singles she had released over nine consecutive weeks. With over 37,000 passionate fans in attendance, this concert is considered "the beginning of a new legend." A truly stunning and unique experience you cannot miss!

The Crunchyroll-hime mascot was first unveiled in 2013. The character was designed by Eunice Dahae Baik and submitted to the Anime Industry-tans Contest, a fan art contest run by Crunchyroll, Funimation, Aniplex of America, and NIS America. Kizuna Ai first launched her "A.I.Channel" in 2016. Since then, she has become the world's most popular Virtual YouTuber and is on Newsweek Japan's list of "globally respected Japanese people."
