AnimeVillage announces retail distribution, more problems
posted on
In multiple public announcements in its newest two issues of the Village Daily web updates, AnimeVillage announced its planned abandonment of the exclusive distribution via their web page. Initially, AV releases will be sold only through small comic shops (presumably through Diamond comics distributor), and plans for more widescale distribution will be made later. The first sign of this change took place last month when The Right Stuf International announced it would be distributing the titles.
AV also announced that the first orders placed before January 7, 1999 will be given one of five randomly chosen CDs (none of which have anything to do with anime).
Two new shipping problems are plaguing the service, including the premature finalizing of orders paid by check, and the accidental shipping of Saber Marionette J to Vision of Escaflowne customers. (AnimeVillage is NOT following with their usual policy of free replacements, asking that customers return the mistake shipment, for which they will be reimbursed shipping charges.)
