posted on by Jon Hayward
The Garden of Sinners, Vividred Operation and Bakuman. are added to Madman's release slate;

The news was announced during the Madman Panel at Supanova Pop Culture Expo Sydney 2013 and released online via Madman's facebook and website. This is of course in addition to yesterday's announcement of A Letter to Momo joining Reel Anime 2013.

The Garden of Sinners

Shiki Ryougi (Maaya Sakamoto) has spent two years in a coma and awakens with amnesia and soon discovers that she has obtained "Mystic Eyes of Death Perception". This special ability allows Shiki to view the invisible lines of mortality that hold every living and non-living thing together. Shiki is soon forced to use this power to help unravel the mystery behind a series on horrifying events and discover her true identity.

The Garden of Sinners (Kara no Kyōkai) is a series of films based on the novels by Kinoko Nasu with illustration by Takashi Takeuchi, the pair who later formed Type-Moon. The first chapters were published on the pair's doujin website back in 1998 and is considered to be a prototype for the Tsukihime and Fate/stay night series, taking place in an alternate universe alongside the two series and introducing many concepts featured in other Type-Moon projects.

This seven film series was produced by ufotable and released in Japanese theatres from December 2007. It will soon receive a new sequel called Kara no Kyoukai: Mirai Fukuin.

Madman will be releasing a limited edition DVD boxset which will contain the full series on 8 DVDs, a 36-page booklet and 14 postcards for $149.95 in October 2013.

On clear days they can see blue island across the water, the artificial island with the Manifestation Engine rising from the center. However the world is confronted with a new threat with the arrival of the mysterious Alone who attack the Manifestation Engine. In order to protect the engine, Akane is given a special key by her grandfather that allows her to access the Vivid System, granting Akane special powers to defeat the Alone.

Kazuhiro Takamura (Strike Witches) handled the direction and character designs for the series with Hiroyuki Yoshino (Macross Frontier, Guilty Crown) writing the scripts. A-1 Pictures (The IDOLM@STER, anohana) was responsible for Vivired Operation's animation production and Hidari(Fractale, Natsu-iro Kiseki, Sasami-san@Ganbaranai) and supercell member redjuice (Guilty Crown) contributed to the concept designs. The 13 episode series originally aired on TBS from January to March 2013 and streamed on Crunchyroll. Madman is the first company outside Japan to license Vivired Operation for home release at a to-be-determined date.

Bakuman

Moritaka Mashiro is a junior high student who's relatively normal life is flipped upside down when his classmate, top student Akito Takagi, sees Mashiro's drawing in his notebook and manipulates Mashiro into becoming his illustrator. Mashiro is reluctant to start creating manga due to his uncle, a mangaka who had a serialisation but died from overwork due to his attempts to regain his lost status. But Mashiro is convinced to succeed when his crush, aspiring voice actress Azuki Miho, makes a pledge to marry Mashiro when both their dreams are achieved.

Bakuman is based on the manga of the same name by Tsugumi Ohba and Takeshi Obata, the pair behind Death Note. The manga was originally serialised in Shueisha's Weekly Shonen Jump magazine from August 2008 to April 2012 and was collected into 20 volumes. The anime adaptation was produced by J.C. Staff for NHK with direction by Kenichi Kasai (Honey and Clover) and Noriaki Akitaya (director of the upcoming Persona 3 The Movie) with series composition by Reiko Yoshida (D.Gray-man, K-ON!). The cast includes Atsushi Abe (Tōma Kamijō in A Certain Magical Index) as Moritaka Mashiro, Satoshi Hino (Saito Hiraga in The Familar of Zero) as Akito Takagi and Saori Hayami (Yukino Yukinoshita in My Teen Romantic Comedy SNAFU) as Miho Azuki.

Madman will release Bakuman as a DVD collection with English subtitles later in 2013.
