The Kinrō Kanshasai 2015 event announced several new projects in the Garo franchise on Sunday, including three live-action movies, a new live-action television series, a second anime season, an anime movie, and a stage musical.
Garo -Gold Storm- Shō, a new series with Ryūga Dōgai as the lead character, will debut as a theatrical film on March 28, followed by a television series next spring. Ryūga was the lead character in the 2013 television series Garo: Yami o Terasu Mono. Franchise creator Keita Amemiya is writing and directing the movie, and Wataru Kuriyama will star.
The 2014 television series Garo -Makai no Hana- will get a spinoff movie called Bikū - Yamagirinochi- next October. As the name implies, the film will center around the character Bikū.
The main character of Garo -Makai no Hana-, Raiga Saejima, will get his own movie.
Production on a second season of the Garo: Honoo no Kokuin television anime has been green-lit, and a theatrical film version is also in the works. Finally, to celebrate the 10th anniversary of the franchise, a Makai Kagekidan stage musical is in the works.
The Garo drama franchise has a dark story that revolves around humans that have the job of "Makai Knights," people who fight against demonic beings called Horrors. The first 25-episode television series in 2005 revolves around Makai Knight Kōga Saejima, who tries to save a girl named Kaoru from her fate of death after being tainted by demon blood.
