Series about a player ruling over NPCs in a closed MMORPG to premiere July 7

Media Factory began streaming a pair of promotional videos for the anime Overlord on Friday. The video preview the anime's first episode "End and Beginning" and the opening theme "Clattanoia" by OxT

The "normal version" of the video features Overlord's protagonist Momonga (Satoshi Hino) narrating the state of his world inside the VRMMORPG "Yggdrasil" and his relationship with the characters within it.

The "special version" of the video features Albedo (Yumi Hara) gushing over a reluctant Momonga, expressing her desire to "let everyone see their love."

The story takes place in the year 2138 when virtual reality gaming is booming. Yggdrasil, a popular online game, is quietly shut down one day. However, the protagonist Momonga decides to not log out. Momonga is then transformed into the image of a skeleton as "the most powerful wizard." The world continues to change, with non-player characters (NPCs) beginning to feel emotion. Having no parents, friends, or place in society, this ordinary young man Momonga then strives to take over the new world the game has become.

Satoshi Hino (Log Horizon's Isaac, Yowapeda's Hayato Shinkai, Bakuman.'s Akito Takagi) is returning from the drama CDs to star as the protagonist Momonga. Emiri Katō and Sumire Uesaka are also returning to their roles as Aura Bella Fiore and Shalltear Bloodfallen, respectively. Additionally, Kenta Miyake will play Cocytus, Manami Numakura will play Narberal Gamma, Masayuki Katou will play Demiurge, Shigeru Chiba will play Sebas Tian, and Yumi Uchiyama will play Mare Bello Fiore.

Naoyuki Itou (Iriya no Sora, UFO no Natsu; Digimon: Data Squad) is directing the series at MADHOUSE. Yukie Sugawara (Sword Art Online, Nanana's Buried Treasure, The irregular at magic high school) is in charge of the series' scripts, and Takahiro Yoshimatsu (Hunter × Hunter, Trigun, Jubei-Chan The Ninja Girl - Secret of the Lovely Eyepatch) is adapting the character designs.

Kugane Maruyama began the original light novel series online in 2010, and Kadokawa's Enterbrain imprint then published it in print with illustrations by so-bin in 2012. Kadokawa will release the ninth novel on June 29. The first manga volume shipped on June 26.
