Ao no Kanata no Four Rhythm Anime's TV Ad Introduces 'Flying Circus'

January anime to adapt adult game about sport played with flying shoes

Japanese television station TV Tokyo aired a new video ad for the anime of the Ao no Kanata no Four Rhythm: Beyond the sky, into the firmament adult game. The commercial explains the new sport "Flying Circus."

The story is set on an archipelago of four islands far south of Japan or even the South Seas. It is all but a different world from modern Japan. From the discovery of anti-gravitons came the dream invention of anti-graviton shoes ("grash") that let people fly the skies. They introduce people to a new realm by enabling flight with just one's own body strength, without feathers or engines. This led to the rise of the sport of "Flying Circus" (dogfight race).

The protagonist who once hoped for a future in this sport suffered a setback due to an overwhelming defeat, and withdrew from the sport for this and some other reason. However, he met the transfer student Asuka Kurashina, and in teaching her to fly the skies, the old passion returned. He takes part in the Flying Circus again.

Gonzo is animating the series based on sprite/fairys original game. Fumitoshi Oizaki (Romeo × Juliet, Etotama, Astarotte's Toy) is directing the series, and Reiko Yoshida (Bakuman., K-ON!, Girls und Panzer) is handling the series composition. Singer Mami Kawada is contributing the opening theme song "Contrail ~Kiseki~," while singer Ray is contributing the ending theme song.

The anime will premiere on January 11 and air on TV Tokyo and other channels. The cast will appear at a preview screening of the first episode on December 26.

The cast includes:

Misato Fukuen as Asuka Kurashina, a second-year transfer student

Azumi Asakura as Misaki Tobisawa, Asuka's classmate and "grash" guide

Nozomi Yamamoto as Mashiro Arisaka, Asuka and Misaki's kohai

Madoka Yonezawa as Rika Ichinose, a model student who moved next to Masaya

Naomi Wakabayashi as Madoka Aoyagi, Asuka's classmate

Kazuyuki Okitsu as Kazunari Shindō, another FC club president

Ryota Ohsaka as Masaya Hinata, Asuka's classmate

Megumi Ogata as Aoi Kagami, teacher and FC club adviser

The original PC game featured planner and main scenario writer Nachi Kio (The Fruit of Grisaia), as well as scenario writers Ryōichi Watanabe (Harumade, Kururu) and Ryūsuke Mutsu (Sakaagari Hurricane). Suzumori served as the game's art director and co-designed the characters with Itsuka Yūki. Elements Garden scored the soundtrack, and Mami Kawada contributed the theme song and "grand ending theme song." Kotoko contributed an insert song.

The game shipped for Windows PCs on November 28, and it is getting a PlayStation Vita port on February 25, 2016.
