New film features returning staff from Lupin the Third: Jigen's Gravestone film

Monkey Punch's Lupin III franchise is getting a new theatrical anime project titled Lupin the IIIrd Chikemuri no Ishikawa Goemon (Lupin the Third: Goemon Ishikawa's Spray of Blood) that will open in Japan on February 4. The film's official website is streaming a teaser.

The official website for the Lupin the Third: Jigen's Gravestone anime film had teased last month that the Friday screening of the film in Tokyo would feature an announcement. Director Takeshi Koike, composer James Shimoji, scriptwriter Yuuya Takahashi, and producer Yu Kiyozono were present at the screening.

The new film will feature a returning staff from Lupin the Third: Jigen's Gravestone:

Director, Producer: Takeshi Koike
Screenplay: Yuuya Takahashi
Music: James Shimoji
Animation Production: Telecom Animation Film
Producer: Yu Kiyozono
Creative Adviser: Katsuhito Ishii
Production: TMS Entertainment
Distributor: Showgate

The current cast for Lupin III, Daisuke Jigen, Goemon Ishikawa, Fujiko Mine, and Koichi Zenigata are also reprising their roles.

Originally released in June 2014, Lupin the Third: Jigen's Gravestone is a spinoff of the 2012 television anime Lupin III: The Woman Called Fujiko Mine, and features much of the television anime's creative staff, including director, character designer, and art director Takeshi Koike. The film tells the story of how Lupin and Jigen became partners. The two undertake a heist in a fortified country, and Jigen's life is threatened by a skilled sniper.

Discotek Media released the movie on Blu-ray Disc and DVD with an English dub and English subtitles on April 5.
