Kentarou Miura Resumes Berserk Manga on March 24

Manga will again run on monthly schedule

This year's sixth issue of Hakusensha's Young Animal magazine is revealing on Friday that Kentarō Miura will resume his Berserk manga in the magazine's seventh issue, which is slated for March 24. The manga will again run on a monthly schedule (Hakusensha publishes Young Animal twice a month).

The seventh issue of Young Animal will include a separate Berserk booklet, which will include more than 100 pages. Young Animal had published a similar extra booklet the last few times the manga returned from a hiatus. Berserk will be featured on the seventh issue's cover, and the new chapter will feature a color page.

Young Animal had revealed in September that the manga would go on hiatus until early 2017. The manga had returned as a monthly series in June from an earlier hiatus.

The manga follows Guts, a superhumanly strong warrior who wields a large sword, as he wanders a dark medieval world filled with demons, corrupt and decadent nobles, and other horrors. Every night, he is assailed by demons, attracted to the curse branded on him after a traumatic event. He makes his way through the world on a quest to slay a former friend turned demon, who took everything away from him.

Hakusensha published the manga's 38th volume in Japan on June 24. Dark Horse Comics published the 37th volume in North America in December 2013, and will publish the manga's 38th volume on July 5.

The manga launched in 1989, and was adapted into a television anime series in 1997, as well as an anime film trilogy from 2012 to 2013. A new television anime series premiered in Japan in July 2016, and Crunchyroll streamed the series as it aired. The anime's next arc will premiere on April 7.
