A live-action television series adaptation of Tensei Hagiwara and Inoue ABD's Saboriman Ametani Kantarō manga has been green-lit. Matsuya Onoe (left in picture below) will play the titular protagonist. The character will visit real-life shops in the drama.

The series will be the second series in Netflix and TV Tokyo's "Moku Dora 25" collaboration program (the first is the currently airing Hyakuman-en ...no Onna-tachi). The series will premiere in July, and will air first on Netflix, and then on TV Tokyo and BS Japan.

Kentarō Moriya, Yusuke Ishida, and Natsuki Takashima are directing the series, with scripts by Hiroki Murakami, Yoshifumi Sakai, Shin Adachi, and Satoshi Yamaguchi.

The manga centers on the Kantarō Ametani, a bespectacled and handsome bachelor businessman in a publishing company. his colleagues perceive him as a quick and efficient worker that everyone can trust, but in truth, he always skips his job and eats sweets.

Hagiwara and Inoue ABD launched the manga in Kodansha's Morning magazine in 2014 with the title Heisei Amamiroku Saboriman. The manga relaunched with the new title in the Morning two magazine in December 2014, and ran until April 2016. Kodansha published the manga's second and final compiled book volume in April 2016.
