Manga launches in December before anime premieres in January

Next year's January issue of Kadokawa's Comic Alive magazine announced on Monday that a manga adaptation of the upcoming original television anime A Place Further Than the Universe (Uchū Yorimo Tōi Basho) will launch in the next issue on December 27. Nene Yoimachi will draw the series.

The anime will premiere in January and Crunchyroll will stream the series as it airs.

The project is reuniting the staff from No Game, No Life: Atsuko Ishizuka is directing the series, and Jukki Hanada is in charge of series composition and writing the script. Takahiro Yoshimatsu (Hunter × Hunter 2011, Trigun) is designing the characters and serving as chief animation director. Kenji Nakamoto is producing, and Madhouse is animating the series. Yoshiaki Fujisawa is composing the music.

The anime's story centers on high school girls going to the South Pole, "a place further than the universe." They struggle and grow together as they cope with extreme conditions.
