Kaiju Step Anime Shorts' Video Reveals Cast, Staff, September Premiere

Misaki Kuno, Misato Fukuen, more star in anime about monsters from Ultraman franchise as cute children

The official website for the Kaiju Step Wandabada television anime shorts began streaming a promotional video for the anime on Thursday. The video reveals the anime's cast, staff, and September 27 premiere date on NHK Educational. The anime will have 26 five-minute episodes.

The anime's cast includes:

Yūji Umoto (Fujoshi no Hinkaku, Ganbare! Lulu Lolo - Tiny Twin Bears) is directing the anime at Usagiou. Ryōsuke Aoike (Akindo Sei Little Peso) is overseeing the scripts by Uiko Miura and Shinji Satō. Akiyuki Tateyama (Kemono Friends, ISLAND, Are You Lost?) is composing the music.

The project is based on a picture book series that launched in Shogakukan's mebae children's magazine in the magazine's September 2018 issue. Yōsuke Kihara illustrates the books, and Kikaseya Keitaro writes the books. The first book titled Little Pigg's Balloon launched in Japan in November 2018.

Tsuburaya Productions revealed in an English news post in November that the project "cheers on the 'first step' of all children." The company describes the project:

The Kaiju of the ULTRAMAN series, are not just enemies defeated by the heroes. Each has their own special powers, looks, and characteristics which make them all unique. These characters are popular along with the Ultra Heroes.
The main characters of “KAIJU STEP” are the “little Kaiju”. The characters are designed as though the popular Kaiju in the ULTRAMAN series have become little kids. The story is set in the “little planet” where the unique “little Kaiju” try new things, meet new friends and portray each of their little “first steps”.

Tsuburaya Productions also streamed a previous short anime series starting in November 2018 on the Tsutaya TV streaming service, including the below episode "Little Pigg and Doughnuts."
