Anime studio Gaina's (formerly Fukushima Gainax) unveiled the staff and cast for Hulaing Babies☆Petit, an anime spinoff of its original anime series Hulaing Babies, on Saturday.

The new series of 80-second episodes will feature a returning main staff and cast, with the addition of Emi Ikemori as animation character designer. This anime featuring mini versions of the characters is slated to premiere in January 2020.
The Hulaing Babies anime premiered on January 10 earlier this year, and the episodes aired within the "AOP no Animusu" program. The anime centered on a group of young girls and their struggle as they aim to become Hula Girls.
Fukushima Gainax announced the anime in 2016 at the "Magical Hawaiians" event in Iwaki in Fukushima Prefecture. The event was held at the Spa Resort Hawaiians, the same resort that inspired the 2006 Japanese film Hula Girls. At the time, Fukushima Gainax president Yoshinori Asao said the goal was to revitalize Iwaki and its surrounding areas with the anime.
Gainax opened Fukushima Gainax in 2015. Kinoshita Group Holdings acquired the studio in July and changed its name to Gaina.
