The Click
September 13th - 19th

by Brian Hanson,

Not to alarm everyone, but I'm typing while eating the last, tasty remnants of my dinner. I'd forgotten how hard it is to multitask while writing a semi-popular internet entertainment-based column program. So let's forgo the fancy-pants introduction, and get into what everybody really wants; right-wing political diatribes!

Code Geass
(Adult Swim)
Sunday September 14 5:00am - Episode 20 "War at Kyushu"

Moribito: Guardian of the Spirit
(Adult Swim)
Sunday September 14 5:30am - Episode 4 "Torogai's Writings"

Er, huh? 5 in the morning? What in the damn hell, Adult Swim? I can understand moving underperforming shows to a terrible timeslot - it technically keeps the show on the air so that fans can still watch new episodes, while clearing out the schedule for other stuff - but Moribito has been on the air all of three weeks, with nary a hint of promotion or even a recognition that it was even airing. And it's not even on Adult Swim's online video site! This is sad news, because I've grown to really enjoy Moribito quite a bit. It's slow-moving between the bombastic action set-pieces, but it's all very intriguing and smart and well-done in nearly every aspect. Lord knows why it was even picked up in the first place, because I'm honestly not shocked by this latest timeslot development. Even so, are 12 Oz. Mouse reruns at 1 in the morning so pertinent to your interests, Adult Swim? Yes, you, Adult Swim, you... TV network that is clearly a TV network attempting to gain Male 18-34 year-old viewers and not an actual person, you!

PREMIERES:

Bakugan Battle Brawlers
(Cartoon Network)
Saturday September 13 11:00am - Episode 29 "Nightmare in Doomsville" (Repeats Sun Sep 14 10:30am)

(YTV)
Saturday September 13 9:30pm - Episode 59

Two episodes of Bleach. Two separate North American countries. One week. CAN WE HANDLE IT?!?

Probably. In Canada: Ichigo finally confronts Byakuya with his new immense power, but it still may not be enough to stand up to the powerful Captain Kuchiki. In America, the land of freedom and fruit-pies and malign foreign influence, Ichigo and Rukia undergo a surprise bit of "training" by their new friends that turns into something far more serious than they thought.

Blue Dragon
(YTV)
Saturday September 13 8:30pm - Episode 2 "A Fateful Decision"

With his village saved, Shu is then asked to LEAVE HIS HOME FOREVER because it will only bring further destruction and horror to his homeland. Because this is a show based on a videogame targeted to the Shonen Jump audience, this is all very bright and colorful and fun.

Dinosaur King
(CW Kids)

The D-Team visits a Dinosaur-themed Park place, like some kind of Jurassic park, where those meanies from the Alpha Gang attempt to steal some of the Dino-exhibits.

Two HiME's from the same school duke it out late one night, but quickly put aside their violent problem-solving skills in order to scour the city for a girl's lost brother. Oh, and: Miniskirts, miniskirts, miniskirts.

(YTV)
Saturday September 13 8:00pm - Episode 151 "Blaze Away, Byakugan! This is My Ninja Way!"

In Canada, the land of confusing trade tariffs and logging: A trade for a rare species of beetle for Hinata's life gets complicated when Hinata escapes, threatening the lives of the others. In the US: Naruto comes to the aid of Gai-sensei, who is being hunted by two brothers for the apparent assassination of their father. These fillers get deep, man.

Now and Then, Here and There

-Tuesday September 16 12:30am - Episode 12 "This Bloody Earth"

Wednesday September 17 9:30pm - Episode 7 "Extraterrestrial Girl" (Repeats Thu Sep 18 2:00am, 7:00pm)

Hachimaki remains on the moon to recover from his just-serious-enough injury, and has a Close Encounter of the Nondescript-Numeral Kind with an alien girl while doing so.

Pokemon
(Cartoon Network)
Saturday September 13 9:30am - Episode 541 "A Full Course Tag Battle"

Ash and Brock are reunited with May and Dawn, at long last! But their tenuous bonds of friendship will not last, as alas, they must battle one another to win a full-course meal at a fancy restaurant! O, the tender shame of youthful friends!

Scrapped Princess
(ImaginAsianTV)
Wednesday September 17 9:00pm - Episode 7 "Waltz of the Abandoned Dog of a Girl" (Repeats Thu Sep 18 6:30pm)

The dashingly handsome knight Shannon takes a vagabond home with him that he encounters running a few errands. Did I mention that the vagabond was a girl? And that, as a handsome knight, the vagabond girl is attracted to him? And, because every show needs a little romantic tension, that Pacifica gets a little jealous?

Yu-Gi-Oh! 5D's

The new series in the Peabody and Humanitas award-winning Yu-Gi-Oh! franchise begins anew! In the bustling neo-metropolis of Neo Domino City, fresh-faced Yusei Fudo combs through the populace to find his ultimate Yu-Gi-Oh rival.

Zatch Bell
(YTV)
Saturday September 13 9:00pm - Episode 94 "The Door to a Different World! Brago vs. Zatch!"

Sherry and Brago attack Zatch and Kiyo's new friend, which in turn causes Zatch and Kiyo to attack Sherry and Brago. And who says kids' shows are too violent these days, it's pure rubbish.

They're really diversifying their anime-film lineup this week, those Encore network guys. Still, it beats the fifteen times or so they're playing Remo Williams.
