Japanese Box Office, May 1-2

Detective Conan: The Lost Ship in The Sky, the 14th film in the Detective Conan franchise, stayed at #2 on Kogyo Tsushinsha's box office chart during the May 1-2 weekend, the film's third weekend in theaters. According to Box Office Mojo, the film earned US$3,994,370 on 352 screens for a three-week total of US$19,934,021.

Nodame Cantabile Saishū Gakushō Kō-hen (Nodame Cantabile: The Final Score Part II), the second film in the two-part theatrical finale inspired by Tomoko Ninomiya's Nodame Cantabile musical romance manga, also stayed at #3 on Kogyo Tsushinsha's chart during its third weekend. The film garnered US$3,641,819 on 410 screens for a total-to-date of US$22,701,040.

Crayon Shin-chan: Chō Jikū! Arashi o Yobu Ora no Hanayome, the 18th film in the Crayon Shin-chan anime franchise, rose from #6 to #5 during its third weekend. The film earned US$1,692,749 on 325 screens for a three-week total of US$8,237,984.

Gintama: Shinyaku Benizakura-Hen (Gintama: Benizakura Arc — A New Retelling), the first film adaptation of Hideaki Sorachi's Gintama alternate-history gag manga, fell from #4 to #6 on Kogyo Tsushinsha's chart during its second weekend. It picked up US$1,364,125 on 90 screens, for a two-week total of US$5,200,273.

My Darling is a Foreigner, the live-action film adaptation of Saori Oguri's 2002 autobiographical Darling wa Gaikokujin essay manga, fell off Kogyo Tsushinsha's chart during its fourth weekend. According to Box Office Mojo, the film ranked at #11 and added US$440,241 on 250 screens for a total-to-date of US$5,654,535.

The live-action film adaptation of Inio Asano's acclaimed Solanin romance manga, fell from #12 to #15 on Box Office Mojo's chart during its fifth weekend. The film took in US$168,234 on 94 screens, for a five-week total of US$4,790,447.

Doraemon: Nobita no Ningyo Daikaisen, (Doraemon: Nobita's Great Merman Sea Battle), the 30th movie in the popular children's anime franchise, is no longer on Box Office Mojo's chart after its eighth weekend. Also off Box Office Mojo's chart was the Precure All Stars DX2: Kibō no Hikari—Rainbow Jewel o Mamore! (Precure All Stars DX2: Light of Hope— Protect the Rainbow Angel!) magical girl anime film after six weekends, and Trigun: Badlands Rumble, the first film based on Yasuhiro Nightow's popular Trigun manga. Trigun: Badlands Rumble debuted at #14 last weekend on 10 screens.
