North American distributor Media Blasters announced on Thursday that it has licensed the Ladies versus Butlers! television anime series. Media Blasters noted it plans to release the show on home video in January.
The 12-episode adaptation of Tsukasa Kouzuki's light novel series originally aired in 2010. The school romantic comedy revolves around Akiharu Hino (Kazuyuki Okitsu), an ordinary high school student who unfortunately looks like a juvenile delinquent. He enrolls into an academy that was once a school for upper-class ladies, and he is placed in the school's newly established servant training department. The students there are raised to be either maids or butlers, and Akiharu finds himself in the middle of the bickering cliques.
Atsushi Ootsuki (Kanokon, Kanokon: Manatsu no Daishanikusai) directed the animators at the Xebec studio with scripts supervised by Tsuyoshi Tamai (Inukami!, Nogizaka Haruka no Himitsu, Strike Witches). Akio Takami (Kanokon, Steam Detectives) designed the characters based on Munyū's novel illustrations.
The anime has the same voice cast as the previous drama CD releases: Ayako Kawasumi as Tomomi Saikyō, Mai Nakahara as Serunia Iori Frameheart, Ami Koshimizu as Sanae Shikikagami, Rie Kugimiya as Kaoru Daichi, Mai Goto as Pina Suforumukuran Esutō, Rina Hidaka as Mimina Ōsawa, Mariya Ise as Kaede Tenjōji, and Kumi Sakuma as Mikan.
