Assassination Classroom Manga Gets TV Anime & Live-Action Film

posted on by Egan Loo
Yūsei Matsui's comedy inspires 2015 TV anime after inspiring 2013 event anime

The July issue of Shueisha Comic News is announcing this month that a television anime and a live-action film of Yūsei Matsui's Assassination Classroom manga have been green-lit. The television anime will air on the Fuji TV station next year.

Viz Media will publish the first volume of the manga in North America in December. Viz Media describes the story:

A humorous and action-packed story about a class of misfits who are trying to kill their new teacher – an alien octopus with bizarre powers and super strength! The teacher has just destroyed the moon and is threatening to destroy the earth – unless his students can destroy him first. What makes things more complicated is that he's the best teacher they've ever had!

Matsui launched Assassination Classroom in Shueisha's Weekly Shonen Jump magazine in 2012. The series ranked number seven in Japan's top-selling manga for 2013. It already inspired an event anime by director Keiji Gotoh (Kiddy Grade, Sengoku Collection, Uta∽Kata) and the studio Brains Base last year. That anime featured the following cast:

Tomokazu Seki as Korosensei

Nao Tōyama as Nagisa Shiota

Ayana Taketatsu as Kaede Kayano

Nobuhiko Okamoto as Karma Akabane

This year's 30th issue of Shueisha's Weekly Shonen Jump magazine reported on Monday that a "shocking," "super-important announcement" for the Assassination Classroom (Ansatsu Kyōshitsu) manga will be made in the following issue, which is scheduled to go on sale on June 30. The Internet domain name "ansatsu-anime.com" was registered on Sunday. There is currently no website at the web address.
