The official website for the television anime of Akihito Tsukushi's Made in Abyss manga revealed the show's second promotional video on Friday. The website also revealed more cast members, a second key visual, premiere times, and the show's theme song artists.

The series will premiere on July 7 on AT-X at 9:30 p.m, and then on Tokyo MX later that evening at 1:40 a.m. and on BS11 at 3:00 a.m. The series will later air on TV Aichi, Sun TV, KBS Kyoto, TVQ Kyushu Broadcasting, and Saga TV. The anime will stream in Japan only on Amazon Prime Video on Saturdays around 1:40 a.m. starting on July 7.

Miyu Tomita (voice of Rico) and Mariya Ise (Regu) are performing the show's opening theme song "Deep in Abyss" (previewed in above video). Tomita, Ise, and Shiori Izawa (Nanachi) are performing the ending theme song "Tabi no Hidarite, Saihate no Migite."

In the story, an enormous pit and cave system called the "Abyss" is the only unexplored place in the world. Strange and wonderful creatures reside in its depths, and it is full of precious relics that current humans are unable to make. The mysteries of the Abyss fascinate humans, and they head down to explore. The adventurers who venture into pit are known as "Cave Raiders." A little orphan girl named Rico lives in the town of Ōsu on the edge of the Abyss. Her dream is to become a Cave Raider like her mother and solve the mysteries of the cave system. One day, Rico starts exploring the caves and discovers a robot who resembles a human boy.

Masayuki Kojima (Black Bullet, Tibetan Dog) is directing the anime at the studio Kinema Citrus (Scorching Ping Pong Girls, Barakamon). Hideyuki Kurata (Samurai Flamenco, The World God Only Knows) is in charge of series composition, and Kazuchika Kise (Ghost in the Shell: Arise Alternative Architecture, xxxHOLiC) is designing the characters. Kevin Penkin (Norn9, Under the Dog) is composing the music.
