The Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism and the Korea Creative Content Agency (KOCCA) announced on August 4 that K-Story & Comics in America, held from July 30 to August 3 in Los Angeles, achieved "significant results" in promoting Korean comics and webtoons overseas.
Designed to strengthen the global reach of Korea's comics and webtoon industry, the event combined business-to-business (B2B) meetings with business-to-consumer (B2C) exhibitions. It featured export consultations, targeted pitching sessions with U.S. companies, and a K-webtoon showcase in partnership with KCON LA 2025 to boost brand awareness in the North American market.
74 North American companies participated in the B2B program, including major U.S. studios like Alcon Entertainment, Lionsgate, and Tomorrow Studios, as well as Penguin Random House's global webtoon imprint Inklore and manga publisher Tokyopop.
10 Korean companies — such as Donut Pitch, DCCENT, RIDI, Vivravo, YLAB Earth, Kenaz, KW Books, TakeOne Studio, ToryComms, and Toyou's Dream — explored collaborations in joint planning, investment, and production. KOCCA reported 231 export consultations totaling approximately US$15.7 million in potential deals.
On the consumer side, more than 25,000 visitors attended the K-Story & Comics booth at the Los Angeles Convention Center.
