Animation Studio Pierrot announced last Friday that it has changed its corporate name from "Pierrot Co., Ltd." to "Studio Pierrot Co., Ltd."

Yūji Nunokawa founded Pierrot under the corporate name Studio Pierrot Co., Ltd. in 1979. Since then, the studio has worked on a large number of works including The Wonderful Adventures of Nils, Urusei Yatsura, Yu Yu Hakusho: Ghost Files, Naruto, Boruto, Tokyo Ghoul, Black Clover, and Bleach. The company changed its name to Pierrot Co. Ltd. in 2002, although its production brand was still named Studio Pierrot.

Kazumichi Ueda is the company's CEO. In 2024, Ueda replaced Michiyuki Honma, who currently serves as board chairman. The company's main studio is headquartered in Tokyo.

Pierrot rebranded its second studio to "Pierrot Films" in July 2024.

Asahi Production and Pierrot signed a business partnership in October 2024 to strengthen the system for stable production of high-quality anime works. The companies aim to leverage the strengths of both companies to establish a system for stable production of higher quality works. Both companies will aim for further growth through joint projects and sharing of resources, including human resources.

South Korean animation studio Red Dog Culture House signed a business partnership with Pierrot in August 2024 to jointly produce and invest in projects targeted at the global market.

Update: Clarified information on company.
