Pokémon Ultra Sun/Ultra Moon Sell Nearly 1.2 Million Copies in Japan in 3 Days

Nintendo revealed in a press release on Wednesday that its Pokémon Ultra Sun and Pokémon Ultra Moon Nintendo 3DS games sold an estimated 1,199,814 copies in Japan it their first three days after shipping on Friday. In comparison, the Pokémon Sun and Pokémon Moon games sold an estimated 1,905,107 copies in their first three days after shipping last November. The figures do not include digital copies of the games.

The company also revealed that the Nintendo 3DS sold 40,582 units during the week of November 13-19, more than doubling the 18,687 sold the previous week. The figures include sales of the New Nintendo 3DS, New Nintendo 3DS LL, Nintendo 2DS, and New Nintendo 2DS LL systems. Nintendo added that it expects an additional boost in sales for the upcoming Christmas and New Year's holidays.

The Pokémon Ultra Sun and Pokémon Ultra Moon games' story centers on Solgaleo, Lunala, and Necrozma. A special Rockruff that can evolve into the new Dusk Form of Lycanroc launched through the Nintendo Network with the game's release and will be available until January 10.

The Pokémon Sun and Pokémon Moon games launched on November 18, 2016. The games were Nintendo's best pre-selling games in history. Nintendo shipped 10 million copies worldwide in its initial shipment, a new record for the company. As of January, Nintendo had sold 14.69 million units worldwide.
