The Apothecary Diaries' Maomao Now Has Her Own Medicinal Cola Syrup

Japanese craft syrup maker Chara Syrup announced a cola syrup based on The Apothecary Diaries' character Maomao on Friday. The cola syrup is “a nutritious original medicinal cola made by blending various herbs and spices, going back to the essence of cola.” The Maomao cola syrup bottle is modeled after classical medicine bottles and features a label design based on The Apothecary Diaries.

The Chara Syrup U Products website notes the Maomao cola syrup comes in a 200-milliliter (about 7-ounce) bottle for 2,980 yen (about US$20.70). Ingredients include beet sugar, ginger, lemon juice, flower honey, cinnamon, cloves, cardamom, hawthorn, star anise, rosemary, hibiscus, chili pepper, jasmine, and ginseng. Pre-orders of the Maomao syrup end on June 23, and the bottles will ship in early July.

Meanwhile, Universal Studios Japan (USJ) debuted the first commercial for its summer collaboration with The Apothecary Diaries. The short commercial features Maomao taking part in the theme park's The Apothecary Diaries Mystery Walk attraction with a guest.

As of press time USJ has not stated if a drink with the Maomao cola syrup will be available at the park. However, the USJ website did reveal three menu items based off the anime series: (roughly translated) Maomao's Colorful Sudachi Reimen Cold Noodle Combo, Maomao's Strawberry Almond Tofu with Yellow Peaches, and Jinshi's Lychee Citrus Drink.

The Apothecary Diaries x USJ event begins on July 1 and will run until January 4, 2026.
