I'm glad the show is finally going into the connection between Knuckleduster and the bee girl. It was implied that he was looking for her, or at the very least, it seemed like he knew about her in a previous episode. This episode gives us a lot of Knuckleduster content that I was waiting for, especially considering that he has very much been in the background for the past handful of episodes. It seems like he is specifically tracking down bee girl because of something that happened with his wife, who appears to be ill and confined to a hospital without a lot of chance for recovery. I'm not sure if that has to do with the drug that's been at the center of the story's plot or because of the bees specifically, but it seems like we've got a revenge story on our hands, which contributes to Knuckleduster's unhinged character.
If he's not visiting his wife, then he's busy training or investigating. I like how he's trying to imply that he's using Pop and Koichi as a means to an end, but we know deep down he has a soft spot for them. We probably haven't been seeing him that much because as he's getting deeper into his investigation, he's trying to involve them less in all of these antics. I'm sure the concert being set up with Pop and the potential climax of this plot point with the bee girl will converge in the season finale.
It's nice to get an episode that leans into some genuine setup. I even like the fact that Makoto doesn't seem to care about our trio being vigilantes now that she's figured out their secret identity. She sees what they're doing and wants to coordinate everybody to make things as good as possible. She has firmly established herself as a member of the main cast.
As for the bee girl herself, we do get some insight into what she might be about. It looks like she can control people by literally inserting her bees inside of them, which is very horrifying when you think about the implications. We knew she was going under an alias, but it straight up seems like she's infiltrated somebody's life, incapacitating adults and mooching off of them as a base of operation. We see a picture of her looking slightly different without the patch, and we know she stores the bees in her false left eye behind it. Either she's being controlled by the bees themselves, or somebody else is controlling her the same way that we saw that high schooler was being controlled at the beginning of the episode. This is probably the first time the plot has genuinely intrigued me. I'm looking forward to seeing where this all goes.
