posted on by Egan Loo
Bestselling home console ever had sold 150 million+ units, sold 1.52 billion+ games

Sony confirmed with the Guardian newspaper that it stopped manufacturing PlayStation 2 consoles worldwide. Stores will continue selling the system, but only until the existing supplies run out. Sony already confirmed that it will stop selling the console in Japan.

Sony released the PlayStation 2 in Japan in March 2000 as a successor to the original PlayStation. The console has since seen subsequent slimmer and more energy-efficient models. Sony has sold more than 150 million of the consoles worldwide, making it the bestselling home game console to date. It has a library of over 10,000 games that sold over 1.52 billion copies.
