Junya Ikeda also stars in space robot anime this April

The official website for the Ginga Kikōtai Majestic Prince anime announced the main cast on Friday:

Hiroki Aiba (The Prince of Tennis (live-action movie) as Izuru Hitachi, a second lieutenant who is the leader of Team Rabbits. He is a positive young man who dreams of becoming a hero. His hobby is drawing terribly written bishojo manga.

Shintarō Asanuma (Seitokai Yakuindomo) plays Toshikazu Asagi, a young man who ranks high in wisdom and piloting skills. As a second lieutenant and a fellow member of Team Rabbits, he helms the controls at Forward. He has an obsession in always being on the top, as his pride is extraordinarily high.

Yuka Iguchi (A Certain Magical Index) plays Irie Tamaki, a second lieutenant and Team Rabbits' Booster. She has a habit of putting “ra~” at the end of her sentences, and falls in love very easily, chasing after any hot guy and then confessing her love if the conditions are right.

Yōko Hikasa (K-ON!) plays Kei Kugimiya, a second lieutenant who assumes the Control position for Team Rabbits. Although very cold, she actually loves sweet things. Making 100% sugar sweets with the power to kill someone is her hobby.

Actor Junya Ikeda plays Ataru Suruga, a second lieutenant and the Gunner for Team Rabbits. He is skilled in his role, but when it comes to millitary interests, science fiction, or anything else he is in to, he can talk about those things for hours on end without stopping. He can be oblivious to his surroundings at times, and he is quite a lonely boy.

The story follows humanity after it expanded its frontier into space in a quest for resources. Advances in genetic engineering research allow humans to adapt to the new frontier, leading to the advent of evolved children such as Izuru. He enrolls in an academy city called Gurantseere to fulfill his mission of "protecting humanity" with robotic mecha against an unknown race.

Rando Ayamine and Hikaru Niijima's Majestic Prince manga began serializing in Monthly Hero's inaugural issue last year, and Shogakukan Creative published the second volume of the manga in December. The staff for the Majestic Prince anime includes director Keitaro Motonaga, character designer Hisashi Hirai, and script writer Reiko Yoshida at the anime studios Dogakobo and Orange.

The anime will begin broadcasting in Japan in April.
