Treat Your Pup with Udon Noodles for Dogs
posted on by Chris Nishijima
Dog owners know the guilt trip that our canine friends give us while we're in the middle of a meal. Sometimes you might cheat and sneak your dog a bit of whatever you're having, but what happens when you're eating something that's just no good for them, like udon? Well never fear, because Seimenya, a noodle-making company based in Zentsūji, Kagawa, just released the world's first udon made especially for dogs.

This special brand of dog-friendly udon was first developed seven years ago by Seimenya company president Kazuyoshi Miyatani for his beloved miniature schnauzer named Nene. "Dog Noodle" is made with wheat flour and uses less sodium than your typical udon, making them easier for your dog to digest and perfectly safe for them to eat. Of course, udon is best served with broth, which is why this udon comes with a pack of dog friendly dashi for making a soup to go with the noodles. They are also safe for people, if you decide that you want to join your furry friend in their meal.

The noodles are gaining recognition internationally as well. The product showed up in BBC's "News From Elsewhere" section last September. Pet owners across Japan can order the noodles online in 150 gram packs for 324 yen (US$2.72) a piece. While Seimenya currently will not ship the noodles overseas, rest assured, if you can get your hands on a pack of these noodles, your chow hound will be one happy pup.
