Giant Demon Slayer Ads at Japan's Busiest Station Tell Folks They're Going to Hell

Thankfully Shinjuku Station patrons won't have to abandon all hope when they enter

The Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba Infinity Castle film debuted new advertisements on the various entrances and corridors of Tokyo's Shinjuku Station —  the most crowded train station in the entire world — on Monday. The ads feature the franchise's demon characters Muzan Kibutsuji, Kokushibo, Doma, Akaza, and Kaigaku next to this ominous message: “From here, you're going to hell.”

As of press time, the posts have received over 120 comments, with many joking about which “hell” the advertisements are referring to — work or school? One commenter quipped, “Shinjuku Station has become hell's gate.”

Commenters on Japanese news aggregate site Hachima Kikō also joked about the ad, with some wondering if the “hell” is the maze-like corridors of Shinjuku Station. However, others mused how other stations across Japan are harder to navigate, such as Ikebukuro Station in Tokyo and Umeda Station in Osaka.

The first film in the Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba Infinity Castle trilogy open in Japan on Friday in Japan. Crunchyroll, Sony Pictures Entertainment, and Aniplex will screen the first film in theaters, including IMAX and other premium large screen formats, in the United States and Canada on September 12. The film will screen in Japanese with English subtitles and with an English dub.
