The current cutest idol in Japan is helping Shonen Jump celebrate One Piece's 18th anniversary. Are you surprised the manga is now a legal adult?
Kanna Hashimoto of the group Rev. from DVL dressed up as Luffy (albeit in a feminine reinterpretation) for Weekly Shonen Jump's combined 37-38 issue.
The issue also includes comments from other celebrities, including Eiichiro Oda's good friend Chibi Maruko-chan manga creator Momoko Sakura, Luffy voice actress Mayumi Tanaka, Hokkaido Nippon-Ham Fighters' baseball player Shohei Otani, comedic duo Oriental Radio's Shingo Fujimori and Atsuhiko Nakata, band AAA's Takahiro Nishijima, and model Shiori Satō. The double issue also features an interview with GENERATIONS from EXILE TRIBE. The all-male group is performing One Piece's new opening theme song, "Hard Knock Days."
Hashimoto has been described as the "exceedingly angelic" center of Rev. from DVL, an idol group based out of Fukuoka Prefecture. She's recently starred in Cup Noodle commercials, the live-action Assassination Classroom film, and is set to appear in the Sailor Suit and Machine Gun satire film remake.
