Participants Dismantle 180,000-Brick Dragon Quest Builders Wall in 3.5 Hours

posted on by Lynzee Loveridge

The Dragon Quest monsters depicted on the 80-meter wall covered in Lego-like bricks in Shinjuku Station were dismantled in about three and a half hours by fans. The wall was part of an advertising campaign for the launch of Dragon Quest Builders for PS3, PS4, and PS Vita on Thursday. Passer-byes could remove the 180,000 blocks to "defeat" the depicted monsters and reveal a mural underneath.

When the advertisement opened it looked like this:

But after three and a half hours and 1,500 fans removing it brick by brick, the game's heroes were revealed.

The game is set in Alfegard, the setting of the original Dragon Quest game. It follows an alternate ending of the game where the hero accepts the Dragon Lord's offer to rule half the world. The player takes control of a new hero to rebuild the land.

Sony released a special edition PlayStation 4 console with a Dragon Quest Builders: Alfegard o Fukatsu Se Yo design on the bay cover. The release coincided with the game's January 28 release date.
