Wakako-zake Promotes Tasty Bar Snacks for 3rd Year

posted on by Lynzee Loveridge

Wakako, the protagonist of Wakako-zake, is continuing her endorsement of Iwatsuka Confectionary's line of bar snacks "for adults." The campaign kicked off in 2015 with Ebi Kari, a deep-fried rice cracker stick flavored with shrimp and curry (garam masala, to be more specific), Ebi Kuro Koshō, a similar cracker that uses black pepper and ultra-pink sakura shrimp, and Shio Wasabi (salt and wasabi) flavored snacks. Wakako is sticking with the same three flavors this year but the products will get new collaborative packaging.

Iwatsuka's Otona no O-tsumami (Bar Snacks for Adults) cost 160 to 180 yen ($1.45 to $1.64) and come in two sizes. The snacks include a small, original four-panel comic strips. Voice actress Miyuki Sawashiro reprised her role as the beer aficionado in a new commercial.

The Wakako-zake anime series premiered in 2015 and Crunchyroll streamed the series as it aired in Japan. The story follows 26-year-old Wakako Murasaki, and office lady whose favorite thing to do is to go off by herself after work and go to various places to eat and drink, even if she's never been there before.

Chie Shinkyū launched the manga series in 2011 and North Star Pictures released the eighth compiled volume in January.
