Legendary Mangaka Go Nagai Draws Cover for Mazinger Z, Transformers Cross-over

Publisher Village Books will release a cross-over manga to end all cross-over manga on March 28. The Mazinger Z vs. Transformers manga takes a unique approach manga; it includes six chapters, each one drawn by a different artist. The book's cover is drawn by none other than Gō Nagai, the creator Mazinger Z, Devilman, and Cutie Honey.

Transformers franchise alumni Hiroto Ishikawa wrote the manga's plot and Transformers: The Battle of Star Gate manga artist Naoto Tsushima is credited for the story's synopsis. Artists Yū Kinutani (Devilman Mokushiroku: Strange Days), Hayato Sakamoto, Hidetsugu Yoshioka (Transformers PD Type), Kazuya Hoshi, Naoyuki Fujisawa, and Naoto Tsushima contributed the chapters. The book also includes additional gallery artwork by Shinobu Kaze, Tsuyoshi Nonaka, Yūki Ooshima, and Fumitaka Kunugi.

Gō Nagai provided the main edition's cover artwork but Village Books will release a total of four versions. Tsuyoshi Nonaka provided the Amazon limited edition cover, Shinobu Kaze provided the "Store A" limited edition cover, and Yūki Ooshima provided the "Store B" limited edition cover.

Nagai debuted as a manga artist in 1967 with Meakashi Polikichi and went on to create many classic and genre-defining works, including Cutie Honey, Devilman, Mazinger Z, Getter Robo, and Harenchi Gakuen. In recent years, he has continued to pen new spinoffs, such as his ongoing Devilman Saga manga. He has also serialized the autobiographical Gekiman! manga about the creation of his various notable titles.
