Crunchyroll Partners with Singer Paloma Mami to Celebrate the Release of Her New Album Códigos de Muñeka with the Commission of Exclusive Anime-Inspired Artwork
Códigos de Muñeka drops today on all major music platforms
Los Angeles, CA – July 11, 2025 – Crunchyroll, the global brand fueling anime fandom, has announced a groundbreaking creative collaboration with Chilean American music star Paloma Mami to support the release of her new album, Códigos de Muñeka, launching today. This marks the first time Crunchyroll has partnered with an artist to shape the full visual identity of an album—underscoring the brand's commitment to the growing U.S. Hispanic and Latin American anime community.
Celebrating the vibrant intersection of Latin music, anime, and pop culture, this unprecedented partnership brings fans a bold visual experience inspired by the aesthetics of anime and fueled by Paloma's personal vision.
For this project, Crunchyroll teamed up once again with acclaimed Filipino artist Ken Hensly of Kensuke Creations, known for his striking fusion of streetwear, mecha, and samurai themes. His signature style takes center stage across the album's artwork, creating a collectible world that visually expresses the emotional and sonic layers of Códigos de Muñeka.
“This partnership with Paloma Mami represents our dedication to celebrating Hispanic voices and creating authentic connections with our passionate Latin American and U.S. Hispanic fanbase,” said Josellie Ríos López, Director of Regional Marketing UCANZ at Crunchyroll. “With many U.S. Hispanics identifying as anime fans, collaborations like this are vital to honoring and expanding our diverse community.”
Paloma Mami, who appeared as a presenter at the 2025 Crunchyroll Anime Awards, shared her enthusiasm for the project:
“Anime has always been a big inspiration for me, and working with Crunchyroll and Kensuke Creations to shape the visual world of Códigos de Muñeka was amazing. Representing 11 different sides of my personality, the dolls line up with each of the tracks on the album and I'm excited for my fandom to see all of the love that we put into the project.”
A Meticulous Creative Journey
The creative process behind Códigos de Muñeka took six to eight months, with Kensuke Creations collaborating closely with Paloma Mami and her team. Each track inspired a custom-designed anime-style doll, visually representing the song's mood, meaning, and sonic identity.
“We worked off mood boards for visual references, and after every round of sketch drafts, we'd regroup to refine the concepts further. It was really important to Paloma to give feedback directly. She made sure every detail aligned with her vision, which is why I mentioned earlier that nothing in these artworks was random,” Hensly said. “There's symbolism in every piece, and honestly, these are artworks fans can decode and decipher for deeper meaning. There are even little Easter eggs hidden in each cover that connect all the artworks together. It'll be fun if fans start picking up on them.”
The result is an immersive visual campaign featuring 11 original anime-inspired dolls, each tied to a track and designed to evoke the energy, color, and emotion of the music. With Crunchyroll bridging the worlds of anime and music, this launch pushes the boundaries of cross-cultural storytelling and extends Paloma Mami's reach to global fan bases.
“This was truly a new and exciting experience for me as an artist. Being able to collaborate directly with Paloma on ideas for her album artwork was incredible. I learned so much through this process, and it's easily one of the highlights of my career. All thanks to Crunchyroll for making it happen,” Hensly added. “Paloma and her team were amazing to work with. Every time we jumped on a call to explore concepts for the album, there was real magic. Paloma is not only a brilliant musician but also a deeply creative artist with a clear vision... It still blows my mind that as a Crunchyroll subscriber, I had the chance to do something like this with them. I feel very honored”
A Growing Cultural Focus
Crunchyroll's collaboration with Paloma Mami follows recent partnerships with Latin music heavyweights J Balvin—who made his anime voice acting debut earlier this year—and Eladio Carrión, further demonstrating the platform's ongoing commitment to elevating Hispanic talent and building stronger cultural connections with one of anime's most passionate audiences.
Kensuke Creations continues to emerge as a leading voice in global pop culture illustration. His ability to blend futuristic and traditional aesthetics has earned him a dedicated following among anime and streetwear fans alike, making him the ideal artist to bring Paloma's vision to life.
