Sumikko Gurashi Franchise Gets New Switch Game in Winter

Nippon Columbia announced on Wednesday a new game in the Sumikko Gurashi franchise titled Sumikko Gurashi Tsukurou! Sutekina Sumikko Shima (Sumikko Gurashi Let's Make a Wonderful Sumikko Island!). The game will launch for Nintendo Switch in Japan in winter 2025, and it will also get releases in Hong Kong, Taiwan, and South Korea.
Players work together with the other creatures to develop the island. Players can fulfill quests and grow crops across four seasons.
The second film in San-X's Sumikko Gurashi franchise, Eiga Sumikko Gurashi: Aoi Tsukiyo no Mahō no Ko (The Magical Child of the Blue Moonlit Night), received a Switch game in December 2021.
The fourth film in the franchise, Eiga Sumikko Gurashi: Sora no Ōkoku to Futari no Ko (The Sky Kingdom and the Two Children), will open in theaters on October 31.
Sumikko Gurashi debuted in 2012 as slightly negative characters who like to stay in the corner of a room. The characters include "Shirokuma," a polar bear who is sensitive to cold; "Penguin?" (with a question mark in its name), a penguin who is unsure if it is actually a penguin; "Tonkatsu," a piece of pork cutlet that was left uneaten; "Neko," a shy cat; and "Tokage," who hides his nature as one of the last dinosaurs.
