Gundam Trilogy, Sakuran, Yatterman Run in California

The Viz Cinema theater in San Francisco's Japantown will be hosting a marathon of Mobile Suit Gundam - The Movie Trilogy this Saturday, April 10. Showing from March 26 to April 8 at Viz Cinema is the live action adaptation of Moyoco Anno's Sakuran manga. Starring J-rock singer Anna Tsuchiya, Sakuran tells the story of an 18th-century courtesan who breaks with expectations and tries to take control of her own destiny.
Also screening in April is the food documentary Eatrip, the suspense thriller Gravity's Clowns, and the action film K-20: The Fiend with Twenty Faces. On April 9, Otaku USA Editor-in-Chief Patrick Macias and author and critic Tomohiro Machiyama will host a lecture titled: "TokyoScope: The Wild and Crazy World of Japanese Cult Films Vol.2 MECHA MANIA: Four Decades of Slam-Bang Sci-Fi Robot Anime."
The Japan Film Festival Los Angeles, held from April 10-25, will be screening the 2009 live-action Yatterman movie on April 10 only at the New Beverly Cinema. Also showing on April 18 at the George Nakano Theater in Torrance, California, are the following animated shorts: Asataro, the Onion Samurai, Gegege no Kitarō (season 5), Cencoroll, and Pooky's.
