Azumi's Kitamura Plans Versus Sequel With 'Retired' Sakaguchi

posted on by Lynzee Loveridge

Film director Ryuhei Kitamura (Azumi, Godzilla: Final Wars) announced at the Tokyo opening of his live-action Hollywood film No One Lives that he plans to make a sequel to the Versus film next year. He also stated that he will pull the first film's lead actor, Tak Sakaguchi, out of retirement to do it.

“The lead actor [Tak Sakaguchi] is retired, but I'll get him to make a comeback. He'll do it if I do it,” Kitamura said.

Sakaguchi appeared in the action horror film Versus in 2001. He has also appeared in Battlefield Baseball, SHINOBI, Death Trance, and Deadball. He announced his retirement from film acting earlier this month.
