New Psycho-Pass Manga to Launch in June

posted on by Lynzee Loveridge
New adaptation will follow Shinya Kōgami in Monthly Comic Blade

The July issue of Mag Garden's Monthly Comic Blade magazine announced that a new manga adaptation of Production I.G and Gen Urobuchi's Psycho-Pass anime will launch in the following issue on June 30. Psycho-Pass: Kanshikan Kōgami Shinya (Psycho-Pass: Inspector Shinya Kōgami) will be drawn by Natsuo Sai with a story by Production I.G's Midori Gotou.

The Psycho-Pass anime already inspired the Kanshikan Tsunemori Akane (Inspector Akane Tsunemori) manga spinoff by Hikaru Miyoshi in Shueisha's Jump Square magazine. The series has over 380,000 copies in print.

The original anime series takes place in the near future, when it is possible to instantaneously measure and quantify a person's state of mind and personality. This information is recorded and processed, and the term "Psycho-Pass" in the anime's title refers to a standard used to measure an individual's potential to commit a crime. The story centers around the "enforcement officer" Shinya Kōgami, an individual with a high criminal coefficient who is tasked with managing crime instead of being arrested himself.

The Psycho-Pass 2 television anime series will debut in October, followed by the Psycho-Pass movie this winter.
