Tomomi Itano to Perform at San Francisco's J-Pop Summit

Former AKB48 member makes American debut

Japanese pop idol Tomomi Itano will make her American debut at San Francisco's J-Pop Summit Festival on July 19 and 20 as the festival's Guest of Honor.

Itano will be promoting her first solo full-length album SxWxAxG, which ships in Japan on July 2. She will perform a free concert July 19 at 7:50 p.m. on the downtown Union Square Stage. She will also perform July 20 at 11 a.m. on the Pagoda Main Stage in Japantown. 50 VIP Pass holders will attend a meet and greet with Itano at the J-Pop Summit.

Itano was a founding member of award-winning J-pop band AKB48 until she left to go solo in 2013. As a solo artist, she has recorded several Japanese hit singles.
