Captain Harlock Comic Writer Robert W. Gibson Passes Away

Robert W. Gibson, who wrote Eternity Comics' Captain Harlock comic book series alongside illustrators Ben Dunn and Tim Eldred, passed away on May 5. He was 55.
Gibson was born in Germany in 1960, and he also lived in Okinawa when he was a child. He wrote 17 issues of the Captain Harlock comic series based on Leiji Matsumoto's manga and anime franchise from 1989-1993. Gibson also worked with Eldred and Dunn on The Pirate Queen Emeraldas comic series. Eldred posted covers of the Captain Harlock comics in 2013 that he, Gibson, and Dunn worked on.
Gibson also wrote several issues for Eternity's Robotech: Return to Macross comic book series, as well as Academy Comics' Robotech Civil War Stories, Robotech Academy Blues, and Robotech Breaking Point: Cadet LiSA Hayes Special.
Gibson was also a core member of the C/FO San Antonio club that had a large influence on the United States anime community in the 1980s.
