Dokumushi Horror Manga's Live-Action Film Previewed in Trailer

Ryota Murai, Rina Takeda star in adaptation of Michio Yasu, Keito Aida's manga

The official website for the live-action film of Michio Yasu and Keito Aida's Dokumushi manga began streaming a trailer on Tuesday. The trailer features the theme song "Never Ever" by the idol duo Faint★Star.

The film will open in theaters and as a Niconico live broadcast in Japan on April 9, and it will have a two-week limited theatrical release. The film's ending differs from the manga and the original novel.

The film stars Ryota Murai (Kamen Rider Decade, Doamaiger D) and Rina Takeda (live-action Attack on Titan, Wakako-zake). The rest of the cast includes Shintarō Akiyama, Kyōka Mizukami, Kiyotaka Uji, Mao Noguchi, and Ryūsuke Komakine.

Kayoko Asakura is directing the film.

Aida's manga is based on Yasu's earlier net novel Kodoku. The horror manga's story centers on a group of seven people, who wake up to find themselves trapped in an abandoned school building. The building has a timer set for seven days, surveillance cameras, and pots and carving knives. Each individual must find a way to survive in the extreme situation.

The original novel and the subsequent manga debuted on the E☆Everystar app, and Futabasha published the manga's fourth compiled book volume on June 23. Futabasha will publish the fifth volume in February, and the sixth and final volume is slated for July.
