Crayon Shin-chan's Live-Action Universe Expands with New Set of Shorts
posted on by Ken Iikura-Gross

Coca-Cola Japan's Yakan no Mugicha (Evening Barley Tea) brand released the sixth and latest installment in the live-action Crayon Shin-chan short series on Wednesday. The new short stars Fumiya Takahashi as a 25-year-old Shinosuke “Shin-chan” Nohara and Mei Hata as Shin-chan's younger sister, the 20-year-old Himawari. Shin-chan heads to his parent's house while carrying Himawari on his back:
Taizō Harada and Kumiko Aso also appear in the short movie as Shin-chan's father and mother, Hiroshi and Misae, respectively.
The fourth and fifth shorts debuted on April 21. In the fourth installment, Shin-chan meets his pre-school's principal (Musaka Naomasa), who is lovingly known as “Kumicho” (a play on what yakuza bosses are called), before the two take part in a Zumba class. The fifth episode follows Shin-chan arriving home to his apartment and receiving calls from his parents.
The Crayon Shin-chan and Yakan no Mugicha collaboration launched on April 3. The first three shorts were released the same day and follow Shin-chan, a 55-year-old Hiroshi, and 49-year-old Misae as they message each other about their respective days. The first episode sees Shin-chan working at an Action Kamen show. The second follows Hiroshi during a short work break, and the third sees Misae's decluttering the Nohara house.
