I watch the trailer party because it consists of people (Lynzee, Jeff, Geoff) who I know their pedigree for anime criticism I’m sure Vanta is a fine entertainer but … |

I mean these are not reviews, it's just reacting to trailers and maybe getting context. There's no barrier of entry for trailer reacting. It's 90% vibes based anyways. There's like 3 shows last seasons that had great trailers and that I dropped after 1 episode. |

Sorry, but I don't see how a VTuber can have any expertise in the area. Granted, there are very few experts (and I've always wondered what makes someone an anime expert), but again, I don't see how someone that refuses to show their real self and not act like a character can bring an honest opinion.
Yes, I know that I'm hypocritical due to my avatar being a Moyashimon microbe, but I'm not playing a character here; I'm giving my opinion as an almost 40-year-old person who has a lot of annoying opinions. So yeah, BIG HARD PASS. Vtubers have never been my cup of tea, so honestly? This is sort of demeriting the work ANN gives. |

I'm not opposed to having a Vtuber join the watch party, I watch plenty of Vtuber streams and content, but the reason I tune into the ANN watch party is that the people there have clear experience discussing anime in a professional capacity; that's why I love when Geoff joins, he is someone who has written long essays on anime and for years has been discussing the highs and lows of what the medium has to offer.
I looked at Vantacrow's Channel, and I did not see one video, stream, or short specifically about anime. No tier-lists, discussions, nothing. ANN is the premier place for anime journalism, so I expect I certain level of expertise to provide me with insight as I watch-along all 70 trailers, a level I have not seen demonstrated by Vantacrow. To put it bluntly, what is he doing here? I can trust Geoff (another regular guest of the watch party) to provide interesting points of comparison or other tidbits of information that make watching the 3 or so hours of trailers worthwhile. I do not have the same with Vantacrow, I had trouble even finding clips of him talking about anime. |

Yeah, if I'm going to sit through that many trailers it's going to be with people that can share some insight on the production, talk about the pedigree of the companies involved, and have read the manga or novels that they're adapted from. I have no interest in YouTube reactors and that's really the only contribution I see Vtubers providing. The last time they had one on I only made it through the first trailer, I found the guy so annoying I couldn't stand to watch any more. I don't plan on watching the next stream anymore. I really hope these people are paying ANN for the advertising and they aren't being paid for the appearance.

If the audience can't stand the guest because they feel the person brings nothing of value to the table/are annoying, it's entirely their prerogative to complain and criticize, actually expecting people to suffer through hours of content with someone they feel brings down the quality of the stream is an unreasonable request.
Also kind of weird ANN still interacts and promotes a company currently harboring a known sex pest, but hey, that's just my opinion. |

All or most of the people complaining don’t even know who he is. That’s what it seems like anyway. Complain after the stream if it sucks. It’s like complaining about a show that you haven’t seen and know nothing about. Maybe I’m crazy, but I’ll give it a chance. I’m not even familiar with Vanta. That’s my two cents. Just think it’s silly, but that’s just one internet stranger’s opinion. I don’t want to argue, so I’ll take my leave.
I do agree with this however. Nijisanji is not great to say the least. There’s a long history there of mistreating talent in addition to those allegations, but I don’t want to derail the thread. |

Watched a little bit before work. This guy isn't as cringy as the last guy and actually seems to be an anime fan bringing up some titles that aren't quite mainstream. Might watch the rest this weekend.

Anichart has CR links too for applicable shows, but the links there are not as in-your-face, I prefer it for a more clean overview of upcoming/airing shows. |

Listened to the watch party this morning, Vanta seems nice but I agree with the broader sentiment of this thread. I like reading ANN for the quality of entertainment criticism and would prefer guests who bring high-quality media analysis to the table. To his credit I think he does seem genuine in his love for anime, and clearly had non-mainstream taste, which I liked. It just didn’t feel like he added much for me, unfortunately.
Not gonna ask for more detail to keep the thread on topic, but if this is true I would also prefer ANN not associate with this agency. ANN has always made their opinion on SA-related matters clear which I appreciate, and would prefer they continue to hold true to their morals. |
