Konami Makes Yu-Gi-Oh! Card of Shohei Ohtani's Dog

Los Angeles Dodgers star hitter and pitcher Shohei Ohtani revealed on Tuesday that he received a one-of-a-kind Yu-Gi-Oh! game card from Konami. In a video on Instagram, Ohtani opened a box from Konami. Inside was a portrait of his pet dog Decoy, a Yu-Gi-Oh! card of Decoy, and the caption, "First pitch delivered August 28, 2024." Ohtani included a photo of the portrait and Decoy.
The Decoy card is a Level 1, Light Attribute Normal Summon Beast-Type monster with 50 attack and 50 defense. The card text reads, "An angel of happiness that descended upon the sacred mound. It is said he descended with his partner to perform the special First Pitch ceremony. People were enchanted by his graceful fur and cute appearance, and the ceremony concluded with a high-five. Showtime with his partner will continue in the future."
Konami is no stranger to gifting celebrities with novelty and playable Yu-Gi-Oh! Official Card Game/Trading Card Game cards. Earlier this month, the game company gifted Kaiba voice actor Kenjirō Tsuda a jumbo Blue-Eyes White Dragon flower bouquet card for his 30th anniversary dinner show.
