Multimedia studio Tetra announced via a YouTube video on Sunday that Tomokazu Seki will voice all of the characters in episodes seven through nine of Higanjima X, the short anime adaptation of Kōji Matsumoto's vampire manga franchise Higanjima (Nirvana Island). The seventh episode premieres on Saturday on the niconico and YouTube streaming services.
Each of the 12 episodes of Higanjima X tells a self-contained, stand-alone story, adapting key scenes and dialogue from the manga while adding some original elements. Each episode has only one voice cast member, who voices all of that episode's character roles. The voice cast changes every few episodes; Sho Hayami voiced all the character roles in the first three episodes, while Shigeru Chiba voiced all characters in the following three episodes.
The Higanjima franchise includes three manga series, two live-action films, and two live-action drama series. The second live-action film titled Higanjima Deluxe opened in Japan on October 15. The film's visual effects supervisor Mitsuhiro Taniguchi is serving as executive producer and series script supervisor for the Higanjima X anime. Ryūsuke Aoike (Kami-Usagi Rope's second director) is directing and writing the anime at Tetra and Fever Creations. Misaki Ōhira is designing the characters.
The story of the original manga follows a man named Akira, who is in the midst of the final battle between the human race and vampires. He only has 47 days until Japan is turned into an island of vampires.
