posted on by Karen Ressler
Seven Seas Entertainment and J-Novel Club announced on Thursday that Seven Seas will publish print editions of light novels on J-Novel Club's digital reading platform.
The first two titles to get print publications will be Grimgar of Fantasy and Ash and Occultic;Nine. The first volumes will ship on June 6 and July 4, respectively. The volumes will retail for US$13.99 and will be printed at a large trim size.
J-Novel Club launched in October, and is digitally publishing titles from Hobby Japan and OVERLAP. Membership to the service costs US$4.50 a month or US$54 a year, and gives subscribers access to a new chapter a week for all its series. Subscribers also get access to a member-only forum. Premium Membership gives subscribers a free finalized e-book each month in addition to the benefits of the regular membership, and costs US$10.95 each month or US$120 for a year.
The first part of each of the novels is available now for free. Subsequent parts require a membership.
Seven Seas launched a light novel imprint in 2006, but Seven Seas publisher Jason DeAngelis comments that "the category didn't quite take off at the time."
