Terra Formars' Delayed Earth Arc Anime DVD Ships in August

Manga's 21st volume bundles OAD for newly resumed manga

The combined 21st and 22nd issue of Shueisha's Weekly Young Jump magazine revealed on Thursday that the 21st compiled book volume of Yū Sasuga and Kenichi Tachibana's Terra Formars manga will ship on August 17 and bundle an anime DVD. The manga also resumed in the same issue after story creator Sasuga recuperated from unspecified health issues.

The 21st volume of the manga was originally slated to bundle an anime DVD that would have adapted the Earth arc. The volume's original May 2017 release date was delayed indefinitely due to the series entering a hiatus due to Sasuga's health in March 2017. Sasuga and Tachibana launched the Earth arc with the manga's 18th volume, which shipped in August 2015.

Sasuga and Tachibana launched the Terra Formars manga in 2011. Shueisha shipped the manga's 20th volume in February 2017. Viz Media is releasing the manga in North America, and shipped the manga's 20th volume in January.

The first 13-episode television anime series adapting the Annex 1 arc of the manga premiered in September 2014, while the Terraformars Revenge sequel television anime premiered in April 2016. Crunchyroll streamed both series as they aired in Japan. The manga also inspired a two-episode OVA series that adapted the manga's Bugs 2 arc in 2014. The episodes shipped with the manga's 10th and 11th volumes.

The manga inspired a live-action film that opened in Japan in April 2016.
