The October issue of Square Enix's Monthly Big Gangan magazine revealed on Tuesday that Goblin Slayer Gaiden 2: Tsubanari no Daikatana (Daikatana of Singing Death), Kumo Kagyu's new serialized spinoff novel for his Goblin Slayer novel series, will also get a manga adaptation in addition to the novel serialization. Takashi Minakuchi will draw the manga, and it will begin serialization in Square Enix's Manga Up! app and Gangan GA online magazine in "a few days" alongside the launch of the novel in Gangan GA.

The novel has nine planned chapters:

  1. Red Blade of Doom
  2. Proving Grounds of Wire Frame
  3. Bushwhacker and Highwayman
  4. Critical of the Tiger
  5. Trial of Champions
  6. Dead Space
  7. Lair of the Evil Samurai
  8. Daikatana of Singing Death
  9. Youth and Ash, Side by Side

SB Creative published the first volume of Kagyu's Goblin Slayer! dark fantasy novel series in February 2016, and Kōsuke Kurose (The [email protected] Neue Green for Dearly Stars) launched an ongoing manga adaptation in Big Gangan in May 2016. Kento Eida began serializing a manga spinoff titled Goblin Slayer Side Story: Year One (seen right) in September 2017, and Kagyu began serializing the novel version in October 2017.

Yen Press has licensed the original novel series and both Kurose and Eida's manga. The company is also publishing the Goblin Slayer: Brand New Day spinoff manga simultaneously with Japan.

The Goblin Slayer anime adaptation will premiere on October 6.
