Actor suffered serious spinal cord injury during filming of Yowamushi Pedal 2 series last year

Actor Eiji Takigawa announced in his blog on Thursday that he has been discharged from the hospital. In his post, he relayed the story of his hospitalization, including stories about a nurse who befriended him. He admitted in the blog post that he has lost many things, but he has also gained many things from the experience, and stated that he will not give up on his career due to his injury. He thanked his family, friends, fellow patients in the hospital, his agency, and himself, for not giving up. He will continue with physical therapy and recovery.

In addition, Takigawa revealed that a documentary about his experience titled "Sore demo, Mae e" (Still, I Move Forward) will air on BS SKY PerfectTV on Saturday at 09:00 p.m.

Takigawa was seriously injured in September 2017 while filming the live-action Yowamushi Pedal 2 television series, in the role of Juichi Fukutomi. His agency had stated later in the month that he suffered a spinal cord injury.

In a blog post in March, Takigawa stated that he was unable to move anything below his head immediately after the accident, but later recovered some movement and sensation in his arms. He had written the blog post with his mouth. More recently, Takigawa posted short videos on his blog on September 27 and October 8 showing him going through rehabilitation for walking, and being able to move his toe on command.
