Kindai Mahjong Manga Magazine Changes to Monthly Publication

The second 2019 issue of Takeshobo's Kindai Mahjong magazine announced on December 15 that the magazine will switch to a monthly publication schedule.The next issue is scheduled for on December 29, and the magazine will then publish a new issue on the first of every month thereafter.
The magazine also announced that artist Kazuo Maekawa will launch a new manga titled Golden Sakura in the magazine's next issue. Professional mahjong player and model Sayaka Okada will write the story.
The Kindai Mahjong magazine launched as Monthly Bessatsu Kindai Mahjong in 1981, and features manga centered on mahjong. Notable series that were serialized in the magazine include Junichi Nojo's Naki no Ryu - Mahjong Hisho Den, Nobuyuki Fukumoto's Akagi, and Hideki Ohwada's The Legend of Koizumi.
Maekawa previously worked on the Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney and Miles Edgeworth: Ace Attorney manga. Kodansha Comics published both manga in North America.
