Toei began streaming a new trailer on Sunday for V-Cinema's Lupinranger vs Patranger vs Kyuranger crossover film. V Cinema and Toei had originally revealed the film on November 25.
The film will open in Japan for a limited screening on May 3, during Japan's Golden Week holidays. The film will ship on Blu-ray Disc and DVD on August 21.
The film is a crossover between the Kaitō Sentai Lupinranger VS Keisatsu Sentai Patranger series and the Uchū Sentai Kyuranger series.
Toei and TV Asahi's Uchū Sentai Kyūranger series, the 41st Super Sentai series, premiered in February 2017. The series has a theme of "space" and "constellations," and for the first time features a nine-member hero squad. The story features an evil organization called "Jark Matter" who rule the universe in the far distant future. The nine "Kyūtama" transformation items that harness the power of the constellations choose nine heroes to become the Kyūrangers and save the universe. Each member is an alien from a different constellation, and include not only human-type aliens but also android-type and werewolf-type aliens.
The Kaitō Sentai Lupinranger VS Keisatsu Sentai Patranger (Phantom Thief Sentai Lupinranger VS Police Sentai Patranger) television series premiered in February 2018, and its final episode aired on Sunday. The show is the 42nd in the live-action Super Sentai series since 1975, and it is the franchise's first television series to feature two rival sentai teams from the start.
The three-member Lupinranger team fights as "Robin Hoods" to restore an important person lost in the past. The Patranger team fights for justice and an ideal future as a paramilitary unit in the International Special Police Organization. The three-way battle between Lupinranger, Patranger, and the crime syndicate Gangler revolves around the "Lupin Collection" — treasures, left behind by the legendary thief character Arsene Lupin, that can bring about humanity's prosperity or extinction.
The Kaitō Sentai Lupinranger VS Keisatsu Sentai Patranger en film film screened alongside the Kamen Rider Build: Be the One film, and both films opened in Japan on August 4.
The four-episode Super Sentai Saikyō Battle!! (Super Sentai Strongest Battle) crossover series will debut on February 17. Kishiryū Sentai Ryūsoulger, the 43rd work in the Super Sentai series, will then premiere on TV Asahi on March 17 at 9:30 a.m. The show's themes are "dinosaurs" and "knights."
